Dinner in the dark

E: Last year I had seen a report on television about a different Dinner . This report said we should find our senses again . It called : ” Dinner in the Dark ” . Nowadays we daily focused on what we see and are generally very visual . So you don’t even give a person the chance to get to know you better because he doesn’t look like you like it. Or a good example is advertising. When we see something  what we like , we want to have it. The senses play an important role in our world. Nevertheless, we have many of them almost forgotten .
Back to the TV report. At that time it was new and totally exciting . It was shown a restaurant, which was totally darkened and blind persons served meals to guests. I found this aspect that people with disability are needed, great. And are accepted like on of us. And that is also the fact that you had to eat like a blind person. So maybe you can understand blind persons better, after such an experience. According to the report , I searched providers with different conditions, online . I have decided on a super offer and bought me a voucher. As I had the voucher, I put this voucher to the stack of voucher and forget it * laughs * . So it happened to me in any case. After a major cleaning this voucher fell back into my hands and I was a little bit shocked. A year was gone after buying this voucher. I had to make an appointment  quickly before nothing works.
And on Saturday it was finally time to use this voucher . Of course you can imagine that it will be not so many pictures of this event.
Full of anticipation, I stood with a few other guests in front of the restaurant and was full of thoughts . ” What comes to me ? ” ” Will I make it ? ” ” Will I stain from top to bottom ? ” ( That is why I’m all in black :)) “Will I broke something ?”, ” Will it be scary for me to be able to see anything ? ” . Questions after questions raced through my head. Finally it was time . We were allowed to come in to the lobby . First, I had to use the restrooms.
I must say the toilets were in my opinion not really clean. I was very confused, but the anticipation of the evening had me quickly forgotten about this dirty toilets. We were shown on a laid table in the foyer and a man explained what we would find in the dark room there. We were led by two men with Night vision device into the dark room . It was very funny to see nothing at once. First of all, I gently felt everything in front of me and so far also found everything. Then it went to the starter, which was actually quite good to eat. We had 2 different salads and a cucumber soup . As an aperitif , there was a Hugo . The hardest part of all was to have pouring the drinks on my own. But I quickly realized that the other senses is presented ready. I smelled , felt , tasted and heard everything with much more intense. I’ve realized many things , not out of the asparagus . I thought this would be mushrooms 🙂 . The main dish was quite tasty . Only my company had a very long hair under his meat. After that I can’t eat anything. The dessert was not my taste , although I had been looking forward to it.  When we came out , the food was just as it should appear on a table. It looks very good.
But the best thing was, to see again.
My conclusion is : It was a real adventure and it is really worth it . Just not in this restaurant. Everything went very chaotic and unstructured. Do you also have such a dinner experience for yourself ? What were your experiences? Would you do it again ?

Yours Katharina

Eure Katharina
